Missions We Support

First Congregational Church of Chester has made a long tradition of supporting many Christian Missions outside of our Congregation. Our practice is unless otherwise designated, 15% of each week’s offering is given to help support one of over 12 organizations. Following is a sample of the Missions we help support.

Dayspring Ministries

Dayspring Ministries is a non-profit, non-denominational Christian ministry whose mission is to encourage and support the people of the Light & Peace Mission churches in Haiti. Donations to Dayspring support the Light & Peace Christian School, My Father’s House orphanage, a Food Program for the elderly and disabled, and a Family Health Clinic. Helpers are always needed to collect and pack donated clothing and other items to be transported to Haiti. Families and individuals are needed to sponsor the children in the school and orphanage.

Good News Home for Women

The Good News Home for Women is a long-term residential rehabilitation center for women who want to overcome the life-destroying effects of alcohol and other drug addictions. Founded as a Christian nonprofit organization in 1983 by the late G. Tracy Ginsburg, the Home offers a holistic approach of healing to the mind, body and spirit. The on-going process of recovery and growth is achieved at the Home through a comprehensive non-denominational, but spiritually focused program.
Services are offered to women, 18 years of age and older, without regard to race, religion, color, national origin or the ability to pay.

Carmen Ministries

Our mission is to provide every youthful offender the opportunity to hear and respond to the Gospel, to grow in his or her relationship with Christ, and to become a responsible, contributing adult.

In order to achieve our mission, we have set two goals:

  • To establish a presence in all state and county juvenile facilities in New Jersey whereby offenders have the opportunity to attend weekly Bible Study Sessions and to participate in one-on-one Christian mentoring, and
  • To have 100 of our boys involved in some form of secondary education by year-end 2008.
We seek to achieve our goals by maintaining our existing Bible Study Sessions and by adding more Bible Study Sessions in New Jersey county and state facilities until all facilities are covered. In order to meet our educational goals, Carmen Ministries offers encouragement and ongoing support to our boys in their pursuit of continuing education at all levels removing obstacles as needed.
